
Overview Chromocell is a life sciences company which improves consumer products and patient lives through breakthrough science and technologies. Chromocell is focused on the discovery and development of therapeutics and flavors through the use of pioneering Chromovert® technology. Chromovert technology enables Chromocell to use rare cells ideally suited for effective high-throughput screening. Chromocell’s therapeutics pipeline is currently focused on analgesics and rare diseases, where Chromovert technology has proven highly effective in the rapid identification of potential new drug candidates. In our flavors and nutrition business, Chromocell works with global consumer goods companies to discover and develop flavor ingredients and natural taste enhancers. The technology is applicable to all areas of taste sensations as well as aroma and fragrance enhancer discovery.
Therapeutics Chromocell has a robust discovery and development program in analgesia, initially focused on selective NaV subtypes. In 2015 Chromocell announced a license and collaboration agreement with Astellas Pharma for the development and commercialization of therapeutics to treat neuropathic and other pain conditions. The Chromocell pipeline prioritizes disorders in which Chromovert offers an advantage over existing cell-based screening systems in addressing their associated complex and challenging targets. In these drug discovery efforts, Chromocell’s unmatched technology has proven highly effective in the rapid identification of potential new drugs. These compounds now are being tested and optimized in preclinical development studies.
Flavors and Functional Ingredients Working with some of the world’s largest consumer goods companies, Chromocell’s flavors program is active in all five areas of taste sensations (sweet, sour, salty, bitter and umami) and in aroma discovery. Chromovert finds the cells that provide the proper context and background for native receptors. These cells are able to mimic human biology and hence the company’s assays are more likely to produce effective new flavor ingredients. Chromocell works with the leaders in the field, among them The Coca-Cola Company, Nestlé, Kraft Foods and Mondelez International.
